The Smith-Gilbert Gardens
New for 2009 - The Smith-Gilbert Gardens, formerly the Smith-Gilbert Arboretum, has a new name.
We are a public garden owned by the City of Kennesaw, GA, approximately 25 miles to the northwest of downtown Atlanta, near Kennesaw Mountain National Park.
Consisting of 16 acres of natural woodland, the Gardens include 7 acres of plantings. The garden areas encompass a woodland walk, a dwarf conifer display garden, a sunny rose garden, a perennial border, a rock garden, and the pond and waterfall garden. As a true botanical garden there are over 3,000 varieties of plants, shrubs, and trees.
The Gardens are accented by 30 pieces of contemporary sculpture collected by Dr. Robert Gilbert which serve as interesting focal points to Nature's beauty.
